Ottawa Senator fans hoping to get an update regarding the potential sale of their NHL team were happy to see Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds post an update to his Instagram.

The Deadpool star who has over 48.5 million followers on Instagram, posted a picture of him and Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe last week.

Reynolds Meets With Mayor Mark Sutcliffe

Ryan Reynolds expressed interest last year in acquiring the Ottawa Senators once it was official that the NHL franchise was for sale. Reynolds has teamed up with the Remington Group to make a potential offer for the Senators. Reynolds along with Remington Group President Christopher Bratty met with Mayor Sutcliffe.

The Instagram pic was of the three of them together with the caption ‘Ottawa friends’ and spent an hour chatting with the Mayor before they moved on to the National Capital Commission offices to talk about plans for a new rink at LeBreton Flats.

Reynolds also showed at the Canadian Tire Centre when the Ottawa Senators took on the Philadelphia Flyers last week and ended up winning 5-4. Mayor Sutcliffe Will Meet With Other Buyers 

Mayor Sutcliffe had earlier extended an open invitation to buyers interested in acquiring the Senators. Sutcliffe asked potential buyers to meet with him and discuss their future plans and how they can form a mutually beneficial relationship. 

Reynolds and Bratty took the Mayor up on his offer and it looks like the meeting was very productive based on Mayor Sutcliffe’s comments. Sutcliffe said he was happy to meet with Reynolds who he found very friendly and learned that he would not be a silent partner if the acquisition took place but would play an active role going forward.

Sutcliffe also said he was happy with how the discussion as they talked about the future of the city, how the Senators could help boost the economy and what plans the Remington Group and Reynolds had in transforming the franchise and turning it into a winning team! 

Mayor Sutcliffe is expected to meet with other potential buyers in the coming weeks.
