Hockey Canada was rocked by multiple scandals in the last couple of years that the governing body for hockey in Canada had tried to cover up. Hockey Canada is alleged to have paid out victims of sexual abuse huge sums of money to silence them and keep things under the radar.

Two sexual assault scandals caught the headlines with both of them involving the World Junior hockey teams from different time periods. The first one went back over two decades and alleged that the 2003 World Junior hockey team were guilty of sexual assault and the second was more recent and named the 2018 World Junior team (pictured).

Canadian media covered the Hockey Canada cover-up in great detail and put pressure on the board of directors of Hockey Canada to resign, which they eventually did.

2018 World Junior Hockey Team – Investigation Update

Police in London, Ontario launched an investigation into the matter and have kept things under wrap for months. The Globe and Mail reported earlier that 5 players from the 2018 squad were face charges and surrender. These 5 players have allegedly asked for a leave of absence from their current clubs in order to surrender before LPS.

The 5 players who have been named by the Globe and Mail are Dillon Dube from Calgary Flames, Carter Hart from Philadelphia Flyers, Cal Foote and Michael McLeod from New Jersey Devils and ex-NFL player Alex Formenton who plays in Switzerland.
