Soccer in Canada has seen a massive surge of interest across the country after the men’s national team qualified for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. It was the first time in 36 years that Canada qualified for the World Cup and the soccer fever in the nation continues to spread.

CONCACAF – (The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football) announced on 10 April that CONCACAF Gold Cup will come to Canada in 2023.

Toronto Confirmed As A Host City For Tournament

The CONCACAF Gold Cup is set to take place from June 16 to July 16 and a total of 15 stadiums will play host to Gold Cup games. CONCACAF has confirmed that the BMO Field in Toronto will be one of the 15 stadiums staging Gold Cup games.

The BMO Field in Toronto is arguably the most popular soccer stadium in the country as it is the National Soccer Stadium and also home for Toronto F.C. when they play in Major League Soccer (MLS).

In a statement, Bill Manning, Toronto FC Presidents said

We are honoured to host one of the most important tournaments of the Concacaf region and thrilled to welcome the Gold Cup back to BMO Field. We’ve seen the growth of this sport in recent years, and BMO Field has witnessed the most memorable moments in the history of Canadian soccer. 

Manning went on to say

It will be an incredible opportunity to continue celebrating soccer in our city and community as we prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. We are committed to providing a memorable and enjoyable experience for international teams and fans.

Other Stadiums That Will Host Gold Cup Games

The CONCAF Gold Cup is the number one competition for men’s soccer and the country that wins the Gold Cup will be recognized as the premier national team across CONCAF. This will be the 17th edition of the tournament and Canada is one of the teams that are likely to play at BMO Field.

Some of the other stadiums chosen to host Gold Cup games includes the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX; State Farm Stadium in Glendale, AZ and the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, NV.
