The NHL team Vancouver Canucks have decided that it was time to let head coach Bruce Boudreau go after the Canucks continued to struggle this season.

They have a 18-25-3 record and the Canucks management felt that it was time for someone new to take the helm and see if they can turn around the fortunes of the team.

Bruce Boudreau Gets Embarrassing Farewell

Boudreau was hired to coach the Canucks back in 2021 and quickly gained the respect of the fans and players even though the performance of the team wasn’t as good as they would have liked.

The 68 year old Boudreau has been around the sport for close to 50 years and is very popular with Canucks fans. The fact that he was sacked does not come as a major surprise as there were rumours swirling around in late 2022 that his time with the Canucks was up but surprisingly the management persisted with him in the New Year.

Francesco Aquilini who owns the Canucks, GM Patrik Allvin and President Jim Rutherford finally made the decision to let Boudreau go. They released a one line statement and bid him farewell!

Boudreau who has spent 48 years in professional hockey took a few moments during his final game with the Canucks to take in the moment and say goodbye to the fans. He said after giving his whole life to the sport, he did consider the fact that he might be saying farewell to the game forever!

Boudreau said he was proud of his team as they always went out there and gave it their all. His final goodbye with the team was cut short in a tearful farewell as both he and his players got very emotional.

The Canucks have decided to hire Rick Tocchet as the new head coach! Tocchet has coached the Arizona Coyotes and Tampa Bay Lightning in the past! Will the new man do a better job? Can he turn around the Canucks fortune? check out the latest odds here.
