UFC 282

Summary

  • Alberta and Ontario have banned Canadians from betting on the UFC
  • UFC 282 had shocking decisions on its Main and Co-Main events
  • MMA fans take to social media and allege that UFC fights are rigged

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is the number one mixed martial arts (MMA) organization in the world.

Ontario and Alberta banned Canadian bettors earlier this month from betting on UFC events after the New Jersey and Nevada athletic commissions launched investigations into suspicious UFC fights over potential rigging.

The UFC came out and banned ex-fighter and head coach James Krause from cornering any of his fighters and also said that it would not allow any fighters training at Krause’s gym from fighting in the UFC.

Shocking Decisions At UFC 282

UFC 282 was the final pay per view card that the UFC held at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Dec 10. The card was a fantastic card with a bunch of finishes that once again proved why the UFC is the best MMA fight organization in the world. All the fights delivered except the Main Event and co-Main event.

The Main Event to determine the lightheavyweight champion turned out to be a split draw between Jan Błachowicz and Magomed Ankalaev and no one became champ on the night even though Jan felt that the belt should go to Ankalaev.

The co-Main event between Paddy Pimblett and Jared Gordon saw Paddy win the fight by unanimous decision which was a shocker to fans as they felt Gordon won the fight!

UFC President Dana White said he was disappointed with the Main Event, dismissed the idea of a rematch for the title and immediately announced that Glover Teixeira vs. Jamahal Hill would be for a UFC light-heavyweight title in Jan 2023. White also criticized Gordon for doing nothing in the third round and leaving the fight to the judges!

UFC Fans Allege Fights Were Rigged

Given the fact that the UFC is under investigation in Nevada and New Jersey and the two shocking decisions at UFC 282, MMA fans took to social media to allege that those two fights were possibly rigged.

Fans claim that the UFC did not want Paddy to lose given that he is a huge draw. What we must point out is that the UFC does not appoint MMA judges, the Nevada State Athletic Commission is the one that appoints judges who gave out some terrible decisions in the Main and Co-Main event.

With the UFC under a cloud of match fixing, Canadian bettors will not be allowed to bet on UFC fights anytime soon!
