Masai Ujiri

Summary

  • Fans want Masai Ujiri to make key plays during the NBA draft
  • Toronto Raptors will look to strengthen roster for the coming season
  • Raptors have succeeded to retain Gary Trent Jr. for $18.5 million

The Toronto Raptors did not play as well as their fans would have liked this season and one of the reasons for that is because their team needs to sign more stars in order to give them a better chance to qualify for the NBA Championship finals in the upcoming season.

Masai Ujiri Must Make Key Moves During NBA Draft

Raptors Masai Ujiri made key moves prior to the 2019 NBA season that saw the Raptors have a great team that helped them win the 2019 NBA Championships. Fans are calling on Ujiri to once again take risks and go big when it comes to the NBA draft to bring in new stars and more talent to the Raptors roster.

The Raptors have hired a new coach in Darko Rajakovic after Ime Udoka went to the Rockets who is keen on putting together a new team roster. Rumours suggest that the Raptors are keen on getting the number 3 or number 4 pick in the NBA draft.

Toronto currently has the number 13 pick in the NBA draft and is likely to make a push to get the number 3 pick from the Portland Trailblazers by trading some of its veteran players to Portland. Raptors could end up trading players like O.G. Anunoby and Pascal Siakam as the Blazers have been interested in a long time to acquire both these players who could join Damian Lillard to form a strong core team.

Raptors Retain Gary Trent Jr. for $18.5 Million

The Raptors have already made a key move towards the next season by retaining point guard Gary Trent Jr. for $18.5 million. There were rumours floating around that Trent was looking to test free agency and did not want to play the upcoming season with the Raptors. However, Trent and the Raptors management figured things out and he has committed to play with the Raptors for the next season.

There is also talk that Trent could be interested in signing another long term contract with the Raptors which is good news for Raptors fans. Trent has the option of signing a 4 year contract that could be around $113.6 million.
