Canadian MMA fans tuned into an exciting UFC Fight Night card over the weekend as the Charles Jourdain was fighting on the Main Card.

Jourdain is currently the most decorated Canadian MMA fighter on the UFC roster and has a lot of potential to do big things in the UFC.

Jourdain Wins POFTN Bonus With Slick Submission Win

Jourdain took on a well-rounded and dangerous fighter in Brazilian Ricardo Ramos in what promised fans to be an exciting fight as both fighters look for the finish and don’t want to leave it to the judges. That’s exactly what happened in this fight as it did not get past the first round.

Ramos who is a BJJ specialist on the ground decided to take Jourdain down but found out that Jourdain was too slick for him. Jourdain ended up submitting Ramos via a rear naked chock (RNC) which is one of his favourite submissions and finished the fight in 3 mins and 11 seconds.

His performance was impressive enough for the UFC brass to award him $50,000 as a Performance of the Night (POFN) bonus. Jourdain in his post-fight interview said he was happy to be the youngest Canadian MMA fighter on the UFC roster who is also the most experienced Canadian UFC fighter.

While it’s a big plus for Jourdain, it also shows that there is not enough top Canadian MMA talent coming through and making it to the premier MMA organization in the world, the UFC.

Jourdain Wants Veteran Cub Swanson Next

Jourdain used his post-fight interview speech to call out veteran Cub Swanson for his next fight. Earlier in the next, Canada’s Kyle Nelson also called out Cub Swanson for a fight in the featherweight division.

Swanson will turn 40 on 02 Nov and currently has a 29-13-0 record in his MMA career. His last fight in the UFC was in August 2023 when he won a unanimous decision against Hakeem Dawodu.

Jourdain said he wants to fight Swanson in early 2024 when the UFC comes to Toronto, Canada. Swanson is yet to respond to Nelson or Jourdain’s callouts as of this writing.
