Toronto FC has made a significant addition to its squad ahead of the new Major League Soccer (MLS) season. Toronto announced that they had signed Norwegian center back Sigurd Rosted.
Toronto Pleased To Get Sigurd Rosted On Board
Toronto FC used the Targeted Allocation Money (TAM) to sign Sigurd Rosted from Brøndby IF which is one of the teams in the Danish Superliga. Rosted has signed a contract with Toronto that will see him remain with the club till the 2025 MLS Season. The contract also gives Rosted an opportunity to extend and stay with the team in 2026.
This is a big singing for Toronto FC as Rosted brings with him loads of experience as a center back and his presence will also do well for the rest of the squad. Rosted has played in the past for KAA Gent, one of the top teams in Belgium. He has played over 200 professional matches in his career and has a record of scoring 18 goals and making 6 assists.
Rosted has always represented his country Norway on 6 occasions, with his last appearance in 2018 during a UEFA Nations League match.
Bob Bradley, sporting director and head coach of Toronto FC said the team was very excited to sign Sigurd Rosted as the team will benefit from his leadership and intelligence that he has gained over the years playing in top European leagues.
Sigurd Rosted Will Boost Toronto FC’s Chances
This is the second big signing that Toronto FC has made ahead of the new MLS season. They earlier went on to sign Matt Hedges who was a free agent. Hedges used to play for FC Dallas and will now partner with Sigurd Rosted to boost Toronto’s chances of winning this season.
Toronto’s defense looks a lot stronger with Hedges, Rosted and American goalkeeper Sean Johnson who used to play for New York City FC. Johnson has played for American in international games and also used to captain New York City FC.
