Canadian soccer fans are excited to learn that the men’s national football team are set to play their first game after their run at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Canada will head to the BMO Field in Toronto on March 28 to take on Honduras in a CONCACAF Nations League A game.

Canada Confident Of Getting Better In 2023

The men’s national football team in Canada had a good run in the lead up to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which allowed them to qualify after 36 years. Canada did not get past the group stage in Qatar as they lost all three games but showed a lot of potential.

Canada is confident that they can continue to improve in 2023 and maintain the momentum they had with them going into Qatar.

In a statement, John Herdman, head coach for the Canadian men’s team said

The last time we played in Toronto in March, we qualified for the FIFA World Cup. This is just the start of the journey and we hope the fans that were there celebrating will support us on our first step toward our home World Cup preparations for 2026.

Canada’s first game will open the FIFA international schedule when they travel to Curacao and play the home team on March 25. In Nation’s League play, Canada are currently (1-1-0) and should be able to beat Curacao who have a (1-2-0) record. The last time these two teams met, Canada wiped Curacao 4-0.

Canada Have Strong Win Record At Home

Team Canada will then have to fly back to Toronto to face a much tougher team in Honduras (2-1-0) on March 28. The last time Canada played Honduras was in 2022 and they ended up losing 1-2.

Canada does have a very strong record at home as they are undefeated in their last 15 matches at home. This run includes seven straight wins and Team Canada will be confident of making that 8 in a row. When you combine the men and women’s teams performance at the BMO field, they have won 11 in a row going back all the way till June 2017.
