The FIFA Women’s World Cup will start on July 20 where 32 teams will compete in Australia and New Zealand to see who will be the 2023 World Cup champions.

Team Canada has named its final squad and it features a nice blend of experienced players and young players looking to make their mark on the tournament.

Canadian Coach Confident Of Success

Canada’s first assignment will be against Nigeria on July 20 in Melbourne, Victoria. Their second test will be on July 26 when they travel to Perth, Western Australia to take on Ireland which will be a tougher test for them. Their third match will be against hosts Australia in Melbourne, Victoria on July 31.

The team will be captained by veteran Christine Sinclair who will be playing her 6th World Cup and likely her last. Bev Priestman, head coach of Team Canada took extra time to announce her final squad from a narrowed pre roster of 25 as she was waiting on the fitness of a couple of key players.

In a statement, Priestman said

I’m proud to name this dynamic and exciting 23-player roster. I know every single person has given their all to make this squad. It’s a great mix of veterans, experienced and new players who can all bring something different this summer.
