Homan: “I’m Just Really Proud of My Team for Sticking Together”
With the hammer in the 11th end, the Ottawa-based squad, featuring Tracy Fleury, Emma Miskew, and Sarah Wilkes, secured the decisive point at Uijeongbu Arena.
It took us 11 ends to beat them, and I’m just really proud of my team for sticking together and trying to make the next one
Canada 🇨🇦 do it! It took an extra end, but Rachel Homan makes the draw for one to bag the win. 🙌

The fresh result brought the girls a 7-2 record and placed them in a three-way tie with Sweden’s Anna Hasselborg and South Korea’s Eunji Gim.
Dispute suffering a loss, Tirinzoni is still in the lead at 8-1.
With only six teams advancing to the weekend playoffs, every match remains crucial. The last four teams will compete in a qualifying round to earn a semifinal spot.
Canada Has a Sure Spot at the 2026 Winter Olympics
Canada’s strong performance also had Olympic implications.
According to Curling Canada, the victory all but assured Canada a place in the women’s curling event at the 2026 Winter Games.
I feel pretty proud that we’re able to represent Canada and get enough points to get to an Olympic spot, I’m just proud that we’re able to clinch that spot for Canada.
Elsewhere in the standings, China’s Rui Wang held fifth place with a 5-3 record, while Scotland’s Sophie Jackson and Denmark’s Madeleine Dupont sat at 5-4.
Canada will face Japan’s Sayaka Yoshimura (3-6) later on Thursday.
Not Their First Victory Against Tirinzoni
This isn’t the first time Homan has bested Tirinzoni. The Ottawa-born previously defeated the Swiss skip to claim gold at the 2024 World Championships in Sydney, N.S.
Thursday’s game saw Homan jump to an early 1-0 lead in the second end, but alternating two-score ends left Tirinzoni ahead 4-3 after five.
The Swiss team had a chance to score four in the eighth end but settled for one after failing to remove Canada’s stone completely.
The turning point was probably her miss for that four
Canada capitalized with two points in the ninth, while Switzerland forced an extra end with one in the 10th. However, Tirinzoni couldn’t manufacture the winning shot when it mattered most.
Statistically, Canada outperformed Switzerland, shooting 88 percent as a team compared to 84 percent from the Swiss side.
Homan also improved her head-to-head record against Tirinzoni to 9-1 since the start of the 2023-24 season.
Earlier in the week, Homan split her Tuesday matchups, falling 11-7 to host South Korea before rebounding with an 8-6 victory over Norway in the late draw.
