Canadian MMA bettors love to watch Gavin ‘Guv’Nor’ Tucker fight as he has an explosive fighting style whether it is on the feet or on the ground. Unfortunately, they have not been able to see the Guv’Nor fight for the last 2.5 years as he has been missing in action.

They will see Gavin Tucker back in action on Aug 05 when he takes on Diego Lopes on a UFC Fight Night card that is headlined by a Main Event between Cory Sandhagen and Rob Font. The Tucker vs. Lopes fight will be one of the fights on the Main Card.

Featherweight Bout: Gavin Tucker vs. Diego Lopes

While all hardcore Canadian MMA fans know Gavin Tucker, most fans will not know a lot about the Mexican fighter Diego Lopes. The 29 year old has only one fight in the UFC but impressed a lot of fans with his fighting style and his performance against Movsar Evloev at UFC 288 in May 2023.

Lopes took that fight on short notice after Bryce Mitchell dropped out of his fight against Movsar Evloev. Everyone expect the 10th ranked Evloev to run through Lopes and finish him but Lopes put up such an amazing fight and gave Evloev his toughest fight in his UFC career.

Lopes showed in that fight that he has an exceptional ground game and is not slouch on his feet. This time around, Lopes has had enough time to train and prepare for Tucker, which will make him even more dangerous.

The Guv’Nor hasn’t fought in 2.5 years and ring rust must be factored into his performance, especially in the first round. UFC fans expect this to be another close fight but will back Tucker to come out with the win!

Tucker is the older fighter at 37 but has less fight on his 13-2 record while the 29 year old Lopes has a 21-6 record. Tucker has fought 6 times in the UFC so far with a 4-2 record, suffering a KO loss in his last fight against Dan Ige in March 2021.
