Sixth Title for Brown
The men’s 200 metres also delivered a strong performance from one of Canada’s most experienced sprinters. Aaron Brown claimed his sixth national title in the event, stopping the clock in 20.33 seconds.
The Toronto native narrowly held off Eliezer Adjibi, who finished second in 20.37 seconds, while Brendon Rodney secured third place in 20.60.
Brown’s victory adds another chapter to a remarkable domestic career and reinforces his status as one of Canada’s most successful sprinters of the past decade.
One of the most anticipated events of the championships came in the men’s 1,500 metres, where Olympic silver medallist and two time world champion Marco Arop attempted to win his first Canadian title outside his signature 800 metre event.
Arop entered the race after claiming four consecutive national championships in the 800 metres but came up just short in his bid for a new title. Foster Malleck produced a strong finish to secure the biggest victory of his career, winning in 3:37.68.
Arop finished second in 3:38.28 after pushing hard in the closing stages, while Malleck celebrated his first Canadian championship crown.
The performances highlighted both established stars and emerging talent across Canadian athletics as competitors continued to build momentum toward upcoming international events.
