4 NHL Players Involved In 2018 Alleged Sexual Assault Case To Be Charged

The latest update from the 2018 World Juniors alleged sexual assault charge and cover-up is that the remaining 4 out of the alleged 5 players will soon surrender to the London, Ontario police. The four players who currently play in the National Hockey League (NHL) are Dillon Dube, Cal Foote, Carter Hart and Michael McLeod.

The 5th player who was part of the accused group of 5 players to have carried out the sexual assault is Alex Formenton who no longer plays in the NHL but in Switzerland. He surrendered to the police on Jan 28.

Four Players Will Be Photographed and Fingerprinted 

These four players have already been given a leave of absence from their respective NHL franchises and will surrender to the London, Ontario police. McLeod and Foote play for the New Jersey Devils where McLeod is on a $1.4 million contract that was signed in July 2023 and Foote signed a contract in August 2023 for $800,000.

Dube plays for the Calgary Flames and is in the final year of his 3 year contract that is valued at $2.3 million while Hart who plays for the Philadelphia Flyers is also in the final year of a 3 year contract estimated to be around $11.9 million.

These 5 players are alleged to have sexually assaulted a woman who goes by the initials of E.M. She has alleged that back on June 19, 2018 she agreed to have sex with one of these individuals but he ended up inviting the other 4 of them who had sex with her without consent.

She filed a complaint with the London, Ontario police who closed the case in Feb 2019 citing insufficient evidence and no charges were filed. Hockey Canada, 8 hockey players and the Canadian Hockey League were then him with a civil lawsuit by E.M which was quietly settled for $3.5 million in mid 2022.

When news broke of the Hockey Canada cover-up, there was a nation wide backlash and the case was reopened. London, Ontario police will have a press conference on Feb 5 to provide the public with the latest updates in the investigation.
