Toronto FC had a tough game against LA Galaxy over the weekend and ended up losing.

However, there are a lot of takeaways for Toronto as they prepare for a new season of Major League Soccer (MLS).

Toronto FC Beat LA Galaxy 2-1

Toronto FC played LA Galaxy on Feb 18 at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California and players from both sides knew they were in for a tough challenge as both teams have some great players. Before the game both teams showed their support towards Toronto’s Tsubasa Endoh who undergoing chemotherapy for acute leukemia

Things did not go well for Toronto FC throughout the game as there were some questionable decisions that went against Toronto. Efrain Alvarez scored in the 27th minute for LA Galaxy and put them in the lead. Toronto FC responded to the challenge when Adama Diomande took the ball from Lorenzo Insigne and found the back of the net but it was ruled offside.

The score was 1-0 at half-time in favour of LA Galaxy and Toronto FC went into the change rooms knowing they had to come out and play more aggressive. Their strategy in the second half did not work well as Marco Delgado scored for LA Galaxy in the 52nd minute to give them a 2-0 lead.

LA Galaxy defended pretty well from thereafter and it looked like the game would finish 2-0 but Ayo Akinola managed to score in the 89th minute for Toronto FC and salvage some pride as the game finished with a 2-1 scoreline.

Bob Bradley, head coach for Toronto FC said this was a good game for his side in the lead up to their first game of the MLS season which is against D.C. United on Feb 25. This will be a tough season opener for Toronto FC as they are ranked 15th while D.C United are ranked in 6th place.

Toronto FC Unveil New Kit

Toronto FC have played in California since the start of Feb and have played 4 pre-season games against MLS teams to prepare them for the upcoming season.

Toronto FC players will have a new kit going into this season which will mainly consist of onyx and red and be of a darker shade than previous kits. The new kit was designed with the help of a long time Toronto FC’s fan Mark Hinkley.
