PWHL Vancouver Signs Forward Hannah Miller in Hometown Homecoming

Summary:
- Hannah Miller joins PWHL Vancouver as the team’s first free agent signing.
- The local talent will bring experience from Toronto and international play.
- Vancouver will keep building its roster with six picks in the 2025 PWHL Draft, including the 7th overall selection.
PWHL Vancouver has announced a major move in free agency, signing forward Hannah Miller, formerly of the Toronto Sceptres, on the very first day of the hockey league’s signing window.
Miller: “It’s a Real Full-Circle Moment”
Hannah Miller is heading to Vancouver with plenty of mileage behind her. The forward spent the past couple of seasons in Toronto, scoring 10 goals and racking up 14 assists over 29 games in the 2024–25 season.
Before that, she spent five years with the KRS Vanke Rays in Shenzhen, China, a stint that helped her develop her game even more and eventually earned her the opportunity to represent China at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.
There, she made history by netting the country’s first goal of the tournament.
Now, she’s heading back home to Vancouver, the city where she first fell in love with hockey, and she’s eager to play for the team representing her hometown in British Columbia.
I’m truly honoured and very excited to be joining the team in Vancouver. It means so much to me to represent the city where I first fell in love with the game. It’s a real full-circle moment, and I can’t wait to meet all the fans and get started!
GM Morey: “Hannah Is an Elite Forward”
Earlier this year, she was expected to represent Team Canada in 2024, but IIHF transfer rules got in the way and she was deemed ineligible, a tough break in what had been a big year for her.
Despite this bump in the road, PWHL Vancouver still sees her as a key piece of their future.
General manager Cara Gardner Morey said,
Hannah is an elite forward who can put up points and wear down opponents. We are excited to bring her home to Vancouver to be part of our foundation.
Miller is the first free agent signing in PWHL Vancouver’s history, but she certainly won’t be the last.
The team is set to build out the rest of its inaugural roster with six selections in the upcoming 2025 PWHL Draft on June 24, including the seventh overall pick.
