Penguins vs. Senators In Game 7 For Place In Stanley Cup Final

The Ottawa Senators and the Pittsburgh Penguins have provided high quality entertainment in the Easter Conference playoffs and are now tied 3-3, making Game 7a must win game for both sides as they look to qualify for the Stanley Cup Final.

Game 7 takes place on 26 May at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh.

The Penguins will no doubt have the home advantage but will also have the experience of playing Game 7 on a number of occasions and their coach believes that this gives them a real edge over the Senators who have not played a Game 7 since 2012 when they lost to New York during the Eastern Conference quarter-finals.

That being said, the Senators have shown that they have what it takes to surprise the best of teams and booked Game 7 by taking down the Penguins in Game 6 with a 2-1 scoreline. The Senators will be hoping to pull off another victory and book themselves a place in the Stanley Cup Final, something they haven’t been able to do in the last 10 years.

The Senators lost two consecutive games against the Penguins and to many appeared done and dusted but they proved that they have what it takes to not only bounce back but also dominate the Penguins. They had a great Game 6 and will take an enormous amount of confidence from the way they played.

In a statement, Senators forward Clarke MacArthur said

I believe in the group we have and I know when we play our game and if we're on we can beat any team in the league and if we're off, you can have an off night. I feel like this team, I've never been on a team that reloads as quick as we do and that's what this time of year is all about. It's forget it, move on and we did that and now we have to forget last night too.

The Penguins are going to come out fighting and will believe that they can make another Stanley Cup final. In 2016, the Penguins found themselves in a similar situation as they went into Game 7 against the Tampa Bay Lightning and won that match with a 2-1 scoreline.

Earlier this month, the Penguins faced the Washington Capitals in Game 7 and also won that 2-0.

One thing is for certain, fans will enjoy Game 7 as both teams give it their all to qualify for the Stanley Cup finals.
