Nick Robertson helped the Toronto Maple Leafs come out victorious out of the pre-season National Hockey League match against the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday, score 2-0

The forward’s accomplishment comes less than a month after inking a one-year contract for $875,000 with the Canadians, after coming off a 14-goal, 27-point season in 56 games.

“It Was a Good Win for Us”

The 23-year-old first scored at 17:54 of the opening period. He netted his second goal at 14:34 of the third period (3-1-1). The victory extended the Leafs’ win streak to three games.

Robertson, who was selected 53rd overall by the Maple Leafs during the 2019 NHL Entry Draft and made his debut in the NHL with his current club during the 2020 Stanley Cup playoffs, now has five goals in the pre-season.

He scored all five goals over the last three games.

The player who made his NHL debut with the Maple Leafs at the 2020 Stanley Cup playoffs where he netted one goal in four games added he was “happy with everyone’s effort”, calling it “a good win for us“.

Pacioretty, Cowan, and Kampf Added Assists, Stlarz Secured 30-Save Shutout

Connecticut-born Max Pacioretty, a first-round pick (No. 22) in the 2007 NHL Draft, contributed two assists to the match. 

Strathroy-born, 19-year-old junior Easton Cowan who was drafted by the Maple Leafs in the first-round, 28th overall, of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft also brought an assist, and so did 29-year-old Czech forward David Kampf

Anthony Stolarz, who joined the Leafs this summer on a two-year, $5 million deal after playing with the Florida Panthers in 2023-24, managed to secure a 30-save shutout for the Leafs.

Thursday’s action was the 30-year-old’s first full game of the pre-season, after allowing two goals on 26 shots in prior games. 

Detroit goalie Cam Talbot made 23 saves for the Red Wings (3-2-1) which was coming off a 2-1 win over Pittsburgh.

Leafs head coach Craig Berube praised his team’s defensive effort, concluding
