Gabriela “Gaby” Dabrowski from Ottawa and her doubles partner Erin Routliffe of New Zealand have defeated the American duo made of Sloane Stephens and Ashlyn Krueger of the United States 6-3, 4-6, 10-4

The winners ruled over the first service points won and dominated the first return points won.

The three-set win on Wednesday has sent second-seeded Dabrowski and her doubles partner straight into the Miami Open semifinals.

Hungry for the First Title of 2024

The two have been looking forward to the event as they are determined to take home their first title of the year

Dabrowski and Routliffe, who are also the reigning US Open champions, will be meeting up with Americans Alycia Parks and Asia Muhammad for the tournament semifinal.

Earlier in the month, Dabrowski and Routliffe already had their first encounter on the court with Muhammad when they played against her and her Japanese doubles partner Ena Shibahara in the second round of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, California.

Then, the pair of underdogs bounced Dabrowski and Routliffe out of the women’s doubles draw.

The Long Beach, California player and her doubles partner from Japan needed one hour and 52 minutes to kick out the Canadian and the New Zealander 7-6 (3), 2-6, 12-10 during the second round of the WTA 1000 tournament.

While Dabrowski and Routliffe appeared to be struggling in the first set, they rediscovered their game and obtained a smooth second-set victory.

However, the duo ended the match with three double faults, zero aces, and no tiebreak wins.

At the end of February, Dabrowski and Routliffe lost the women’s doubles semifinal match at the Dubai Tennis Championships 6-4, 6-4 to the Czech player Katerina Siniakova and Australian doubles partner Storm Hunter.
