Countdown To The HSBC Abu Dhabi Championship Begins

HSBC Abu Dhabi ChampionshipThere’s less than a month remaining before the world’s best golfers make their way to the Abu Dhabi Golf Club for the annual HSBC Abu Dhabi Championship from January 18 to January 21, 2018.

Ten of the last twelve golf events were decided by a single shot, this event is sure to offer an abundance of excitement and drama, as one of the best lineups of the year compete to try to see claim the first European Tour win at the Abu Dhabi Golf Club.

As the Abu Dhabi Championship is the start for most of the world’s best golfers in the 2018 season, everyone will be focused towards Abu Dhabi to observe who will start the year off winning.

Tommy Fleetwood was last year’s winner who used his victory to facilitate his best career season in golf, claiming the Race to Dubai eleven months later. Runner-up, Dustin Johnson, started a remarkable run that allowed him to gain the World Golf Ranking number 1 spot.

Five additional players will form the group known as the ‘Magnificent Seven’ prior to the event in January, with Johnson and Fleetwood being joined by Paul Casey, Justin Rose, Matt Kuchar, Henrik Stenson, and Rory Mcllroy in the pack with the hopes of taming the National Course.

The property managed by Troon, which is owned by the Tourism Development and Investment Company (TDIC), has developed into an iconic symbol in the United Arab Emirates when it comes to golf, with the Falcon clubhouse presiding over all twenty-seven holes at the famous Abu Dhabi Golf Club. The 7,600-yard course will test every aspect of the game as it offers a total of 90 bunkers and rolling greens throughout. The four par-5’s, in previous tournaments, have offered many champions the rare opportunity to gain ground on other competitors. This includes the amphitheatre on the 18th hole, providing some of the most memorable moments in recent years.

In 2018, spectators will get the opportunity to enjoy the course thirty-six hours after the last putt has been delivered, as the golf course re-opens to the public on the 23rd of January. In addition, all guests that are staying at the stunning Abu Dhabi hotel will be able to attend the championship for free through a link that will be offered on the Official Event website. This is also an idealevent for golf betters as it is the kick off to the season and will be a strong indicator on the form and condition of many of those attending the event.
