Beaulieu-Marchand, on his final run managed to land a triple to boost his score, it was his best of three and helped him earn a podium finish.
Said Beaulieu-Marchand as he celebrated his bronze win,

‘I just can’t believe it, it’s amazing. I just landed a run I wanted to land.

He continued adding that,

“I wanted to show the world what I am capable of on my skis and I did. The medal is just a bonus. Medal or no medal, I’m just so happy.”

Teal Harle had “unreal” day

Campbell River’s Teal Harle finished fifth overall with her score of 90.00 in what was her first Olympic Winter Games. Harle secured her spot on the Olympic team during the final qualifying event, and at the age of 21, today’s finish was beyond her expectation.

“Today was unreal. I’ve definitely surpassed every expectation I had for the Games”

Continuing about her performance and goals going into today’s competition, Harle stated,

“Going into it, my goal was just to land a run in qualifications and I made it to finals, so that was insane. It took me three tries, but I landed a clean run in finals. I couldn’t be happier with how today went.”

Slopestyle skiers performed tricked out jumps

For fans of slopestyle skiing, today’s event had them witnessing some seriously tricked out jumps. The final featured some of the best skiers in the world with Nick Goepper from the U.S, James Woods from the U.K, Evan McEachran, Teal Harle and Alex Beaulieu-Marchand from Canada, Norway’s Ferdinand Dahl and Switzerland’s Andri Ragettli.

Oakville’s McEachran placed sixth in the final with a score of 89.40, McEachran is only 20 and is the youngest member of freestyle team. Having had a podium finish at the World Cup this year, it was his first Olympic Winter Games and an excellent beginning to his Olympic career.

Qualifying also saw Canadian Alex Bellemare, skiing in his first Olympic games failing to make the top 12. However, Beaulieu-Marchand, Harle and McEachran each qualified and made the final. For Beaulieu-Marchand, it will be a day he will not forget and for many reasons.
