Summary:

  • UFC 289 will take place on June 10 in Vancouver, BC
  • Four Canadian MMA fighters that will have full crowd support
  • Some MMA fans not happy with weak card for UFC 289

MMA fans in Canada cannot wait for June 10 as the UFC is set to make a stop in Vancouver, British Columbia.

The UFC has decided to bring a pay per view card in UFC 289 to give Canadian fans a dose of some live UFC action after a 3 year break due to COVID-19.

Four Canadian Fighters To Watch Out For

The UFC has made it a habit to load a card with a lot of hometown fighters as it gives added incentive to the fans to come out and support their local fighters. The UFC has put together a good selection of Canadian fighters on this card and two of them will be on the Main Card.

You must watch out for Mike Malott in the welterweight division who will take on Adam Fugitt. Malott has a lot of potential to become a big threat in the welterweight division but he will have to get past Fugitt first. Malott has a 9-1-1 record and will want to make an impressive statement as he is fighting just before the co-Main event.

You also need to watch out for veteran Marc-Andre Barriault who will fight the experienced Eryk Anders. Barriault has shown in the past that he will keep coming forward and will look to finish the fight. It’s going to be a difficult one for Barriault as Anders has shown that he will fight till the end.

Jasmine Jasudavicius is relatively new for most Canadian MMA fans although she has been around for a bit. The 34 year old Jasudavicius will be taking on the 24 year old Miranda Maverick and will have a tough challenge on her hands.

Jasudavicius will fight on the prelims and so will Canadian fighter Aiemann Zahabi who has a 9-2 record. He will face veteran Qileng Aori in the bantamweight division who has a 24-9 record.

Some MMA Fans Not Happy With UFC 289 Card

While Canadian fans are happy to see live UFC action, some fans have taken to social media to criticize UFC 289 saying that it is a weak card for a pay per view card. However, we have seen in the past that some cards that don’t have a lot of big names, end up with some of the most memorable UFC fights.
