Betting Previews & Tips for Nov 30 - World Cup 2022

FIFA World Cup 2022

Following a busy Tuesday, another huge day of World Cup betting takes place on Wednesday, as another set of teams are set to battle it out for their place in the knockout rounds.

First up, there will be two games from Group D, where Australia, Tunisia, and Denmark are all playing for a chance to join France in the next stage of the competition. Somewhat surprisingly, it is Australia in the driving seat after their win against Tunisia, but they’ll need to get a positive result against the Danish to give themselves the best chance of securing safe passage. The Tunisians will be hoping that the French take their eye off the ball now that they’ve already qualified, but as Les Bleus look to cement the top spot, is that likely to happen?

In Group E, one of the pre-tournament favourites, Argentina, look to continue their recovery after securing victory against the Mexicans, who now look destined to go out as they sit bottom of the pile with just a single point. The Polish will be looking for a second win in a row when they face the Argentinians, but they’ll certainly take the point that would ensure their qualification. Can the Saudis beat the Mexicans and guarantee their place? It’s all to play for in this one.

Australia vs Denmark

2021 European Championship semi-finalists Denmark find themselves in trouble ahead of match-day three in Group D. After taking just one point from two games, they now need to win and hope that the other result goes their way. They have the quality to get the desired result, especially on paper, but they’ll have to improve to beat an Australian side that showed tons of grit and determination last time out.

Few people expected the Aussies to beat Tunisia, but they dug deep and got what could turn out to be the most precious of 1-0 victories. It wasn’t pretty, it was workmanlike, but they found a way to make the breakthrough and then managed the game superbly, giving very little away. A similar performance could easily see them get a result here.

The early betting suggests that the Danes will win this game easily, and they may, though their attacking efforts at this tournament so far don’t exactly point towards them dishing out a battering, especially if the Aussies can be as resolute as they were last time.

Those looking for a bet should consider ‘Under 2.5 Goals’. The Aussies cannot afford to open this game up, so it’s likely to be a case of them shutting up shop early, which should lend itself to a low-scoring game. What’s more, only one of Australia’s last five games has contained more than two goals, while only two of Denmark’s last six have contained three or more goals.

Betting Tips:

  • Score Prediction 1-1 Draw
  • Under 2.5 Goals @ 2.10

Tunisia vs France

Odds:

  • France 1.50
  • Tunisia 7.00
  • Draw 4.00

At Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan, Tunisia will try to do the unthinkable and beat France to forge a route into the knockouts while the French look to top the group.

Les Bleus come into this game as huge favourites, and it’s easy to see why. They’ve won two out of two, scoring six goals and showing lots of quality in the process. The reigning world champions clearly mean business in Qatar, and it would be foolish to think that they’ll step off the gas here.

Unfortunately for Tunisia, it’s a case of chasing this game. They know that a draw will not be enough, and while they could enjoy some luck offensively by adopting a more direct approach, they’re likely to pay the price at the other end, especially if the blistering Kylian Mbappe starts again.

Bettors should consider ‘France to Win & Over 2.5 Goals’. Didier Deschamps’ men created lots of chances against both Australia and Denmark, so they should have few problems getting at this Tunisian back-line, and the fact that the Tunisians need to be more aggressive should only aid their cause.

There’s a gap in quality here, and the French are fully expected to take advantage of the situation and make it three wins from three in emphatic style.

Betting Tips:

  • Score Prediction: 3-0 France
  • France to Win & Over 2.5 Goals @ 2.70

Poland vs Argentina

Odds:

Part two of Argentina’s recovery mission will take place at Stadium 974 in the capital city of Doha on Wednesday.

For Poland, much of the hard work has already been completed, as it is they who sit top of the group, knowing that a point would guarantee them a place in the knockouts. For the Argentinians, though, a win is the only result that would secure their safe passage beyond dispute. A draw may be enough, though they’d then be relying on the other result going their way.

Last time out, the Poles did what the men in blue and white could not do on match-day one, and that was to beat Saudi Arabia. As Robert Lewandowksi scored his first-ever World Cup goal, Poland secured a 2-0 victory, though their win wasn’t all that convincing. Both goals were well taken, and the chances were well fashioned by the men in white, but they certainly rode their luck, defending at times as if a team of Argentina’s quality could get plenty of joy.

This could be a fixture for goals, and wouldn’t that be nice given the number of low-scoring games we’ve seen in Qatar so far.

For starters, Argentina must adopt an attacking approach, and as we saw during the second half against Mexico, they’ve got plenty of offensive quality, even if it took them a while to find it. What they didn’t look like in that game, though, was defensively astute. The Mexicans got into lots of promising attacking positions, they just simply lacked a goal threat, but we know Poland have that in Lewandowski, so don’t rule out Polish joy in front of the goal.

At the other end of proceedings, though they often keep it tight against lesser teams, the Poles don’t have a great defensive record against the big boys. In the recently concluded UEFA Nations League, they shipped twice home and away to the Dutch, conceding six, YES SIX, on the road to Belgium. There will be goals for the Argentinians here if they want them, that’s for sure.

Six of Argentina’s last seven games have produced three or more goals, and as they chase glory here, with the pressure somewhat off the Polish, the goals should appear in this fixture.

Betting Tips:

  • Score Prediction: Argentina 3-1 Poland
  • Over 2.5 Goals @ 2.15

Saudi Arabia vs Mexico

Odds:

  • Mexico 1.70
  • Saudi Arabia 4.80
  • Draw 4.20

On Wednesday evening in Lusail, at the Lusail Iconic Stadium, the Saudi Arabians go in search of what seemed an unlikely place in the knockouts just a week ago when they take on Mexico, whose hopes of qualifying now look slim.

After beating Argentina, much to everyone’s surprise, the Saudis couldn’t make the breakthrough against Poland, but that wasn’t for the lack of trying. They dominated that game in terms of possession, shots and shots on target, plus they missed from the spot, so it’s probably fair to say that they were a little hard done by.

In contrast, the Mexicans could have little complaints over their defeat at the hands of Lionel Messi and friends. Although their effort was a spirited one, they never troubled the opposing keeper, and it was always just a matter of time before they let it slip defensively.

At the prices, it could pay to bet on the Saudis to avoid defeat here. After all, this is a team that can be tricky to face, and it’s also a team that seems to relish wearing the underdog tag.

Beaten in just two of their last 11 fixtures, this Saudi Arabian team really does know how to avoid defeat. Over the last year or so, they’ve held off some decent opposition, beating Iceland and tying with the likes of Albania, the USA and Ecuador. What also catches the eye is the little number of goals that they tend to concede. In fact, since the beginning of 2022, they’ve conceded more than once in just two out of 16.

If we consider this relatively pleasing recent defensive record in conjunction with Mexico’s recent offensive woes, it’s really not difficult to see the Arabian side getting themselves a positive result. After all, Mexico have now either failed to score or scored just once in each of their last three, and they’re yet to score at this tournament. They’ve also won just two of their last eight, so we shouldn’t be surprised if they crash out here thanks to another failure to take three points.

Betting Tips:

  • Score Prediction: 1-1 Draw
  • Saudi Arabia +1 Handicap @ 2.20
