Vancouver, British Columbia has finally revealed the name and logo of its brand-new professional women’s soccer team during an event at the start of the week, following the footsteps of Calgary Wild FC, Ottawa Rapid FC and Halifax Tides FC that have already made their names and logos public.

The Vancouver Rise has finally put an end to the 10-year-old hiatus in the city’s professional women’s soccer programs that last saw the Vancouver Whitecaps folding its program.

The Rise to Represent Vancouverites in the Northern Super League

The Northern Super League will kick start its inaugural season in April 2025, bringing happiness to fans and supporters of professional women’s soccer who have been anticipating the return of the sport in their city.

Vancouver Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Calgary, and Halifax franchises will open the Northern Super League with a 25-game schedule next spring.

The playoffs will then precede the national championship scheduled for the fall of 2025.

The initial salary cap for all teams is expected to be set at $1.5 million for 20 to 25 players on a roster, with minimum salaries of $50,000.

Each of the clubs will be allowed to bring in up to seven foreign players and a single marquee player whose salary will account for $75,000 against the cap.

“A Beacon of Empowerment and Progress”

Team president Sinead King and Whitecaps women’s sporting director Stephanie Labbé were the ones who had the honor to present the name and logo of the team.

In a statement, the Vancouver Rise explained the moniker symbol was chosen because it stands for “a beacon of empowerment and progress” that will inspire the generation to come “to rise above and chase their dreams.”

The teal shield-shaped logo that was crowned with three snow-capped mountains and featured a bursting golden sun symbol was also put on display on Monday.

The same statement mentioned Vancouver’s “incredible support for the women’s game” and explained it took “months of consulting with fans and stakeholders” for the franchise to be able to proudly announce the identity of the new club.
