It was a glorious Tuesday NHL night for the Utah Mammoth. The team left little doubt when they rolled past the Toronto Maple Leafs and ended the night with an almost flawless 6-1 score, and they had Dylan Guenther to thank.

Busy Night for Mammoth

The 22-year-old did most of the damage, scoring twice in just 1L18 minutes and setting up another in an ultra-fast burst early in the second period.

The Edmonton, Alberta native this way completed the feat of scoring the fastest pair of goals by a single player in Mammoth franchise history, pushing Utah out to a 3-0 lead.

Torontian Jack McBain was, however, equally involved, as he finished with a goal and two assists.

Daniil But, JJ Peterka, and Michael Carcone also each chipped in with a goal and an assist, while Ian Cole quietly added two helpers. Barrett Hayton also picked up an assist for Utah, which improved its point streak to 4-0-1.

Karel Vejmelka stopped no less than 19 shots, earning his NHL-leading 21st win of the season.

Toronto’s only goal came from Calle Jarnkrok. Dennis Hildeby faced steady pressure and finished with 34 saves.

The loss put an end to what had been a four-game winning streak and a 10-game run of collecting points. Dennis Hildeby faced steady pressure and finished with 34 saves.

It Was Personal for Carcone

Carcone opened the scoring just 3:22 into the game, finishing a one-timer off a cross-ice feed from Nate Schmidt. The goal had a personal touch for Carcone, who grew up just north of Toronto, and marked the third straight meeting in which he scored Utah’s first goal.

Jarnkrok finally got Toronto on the board 3:30 into the third, breaking up Vejmelka’s shutout bid.

Utah closed things out late, with McBain and But scoring 3:25 apart to put a final stamp on the night.

There was a brief scare for Utah when Sean Durzi took a cut to the face after colliding with Auston Matthews in the second period, but he returned for the third. Earlier, But appeared to score late in the first, though officials blew the play dead for a face-off while the puck was still loose.

Up next, Toronto will head to Vegas for a Thursday night matchup while Utah will stay home to face Dallas the same night, continuing a seven-game homestand.
