- Red Sox shut out Toronto Blue Jays 5-0 for a third consecutive win.
- Blue Jays’ lineup continues to struggle amid injuries and losses.
The Toronto Blue Jays lost 5-0 to the Boston Red Sox on Monday night. Starter Ranger Suárez put out a dominant outing, delivering one of his strongest performances of the 2026 MLB season.
He Threw Eight Shutout Innings and Allowed One Hit
The 30-year-old threw eight shutout innings while allowing just one hit in the sixth inning when Jesús Sánchez opened the frame with a double down the left-field line.
The crowd of close to 42,000 briefly came alive, but Suarez quickly regained control, retiring the next three batters in order.
He finished with 10 strikeouts and just one walk, improving his record to 2-2.
The game stayed quiet early, with both teams moving through the first three innings without much offense.
Boston finally broke through in the fourth inning against Blue Jays starter Dylan Cease. Marcelo Mayer drove in the opening run with an RBI single that scored Willson Contreras.
The Red Sox added more pressure in the fifth, pushing across two additional runs, and added another in the sixth to force Cease out of the game. He finished with four earned runs allowed on seven hits, along with three walks and five strikeouts.
Blue Jays Couldn’t Find Rhythm
Toronto’s offense never found rhythm against Suarez or the Boston bullpen. The Blue Jays, now 12-16, have dropped three of their last eight games and continue to deal with inconsistency at the plate.
Boston added insurance in the eighth when Carlos Narváez hit a solo home run off reliever Chase Lee, extending the lead to 5-0.
The only late threat came in the ninth when Greg Weissert allowed a pinch-hit double to Daulton Varsho, but Ernie Clement ended the game with a flyout. Clement’s hit streak also came to an end after 10 games.
The win comes during a transitional stretch for Boston following recent coaching changes, with several interim staff members stepping into new roles under interim manager Chad Tracy.
Despite the off-field adjustments, the Red Sox have now won three straight and appear to be stabilizing.
