Summary:

  • A late eighth-inning rally bagged the Toronto Blue Jays’ 4-2 victory against the Los Angeles Angels.
  • The result marked the third victory in a row for the Jays.
  • Injury-sidelined George Springer believes the team now has a clearer identity.

The Toronto Blue Jays may be having a less-than-even start, but they are certainly showing clear signs of improvement. Their latest 4-2 win against the Los Angeles Angels offers new proof of the direction the team is heading in the 2026 MLB season

“We’re Starting to Find An Identity of Who We Are”

George Springer, sidelined since April 11 with a fractured left big toe, has been paying close attention. From the dugout, he has noticed better quality at-bats and a growing sense of direction within the lineup.

It’s becoming clear we’re starting to find an identity of who we are, and that’s the most important thing” he said Tuesday after testing his toe with light running.

The 36-year-old also expressed his content with the way the

Guys are starting to understand how they’re getting pitched and what’s working for them in the moment. I’ve actually liked a lot of our at-bats this whole trip, it just hasn’t progressed the way everybody would call a positive day in the score column. But guys are starting to find their way,” he added.

Just a few hours later, that belief fully played out on the field, as the Jays secured their first series victory and their first three-game winning streak since sweeping the Athletics to open the season.

Late Breakthrough

Following a tight contest, John Schneider’s side managed to push through in the eighth inning, courtesy of Ernie Clement, who kick-started the rally with a double. Lenyn Sosa followed with a pinch-hit, two-run double to break the tie, and Eloy Jimenez was the one who added an RBI single to offer more breathing room.

Earlier, Guerrero extended his hit streak to 12 games, scoring the tying run in the sixth inning after a hustle play that included an infield single and aggressive baserunning.

On the mound, the Blue Jays got a steady outing from Patrick Corbin, who allowed just one run over five innings. The bullpen carried that effort forward, with Spencer Miles, Mason Fluharty and Tyler Rogers combining for three solid innings.

The ninth inning brought some tension. Jeff Hoffman allowed a single to Mike Trout and hit two batters, trimming the lead to two runs. With pressure building, manager John Schneider turned to Louis Varland, who induced a game-ending double play off Nolan Schanuel to seal the win.

At 10-13, Toronto now has a chance to complete a sweep in the series finale, with Eric Lauer set to face Jose Soriano.
