New York Rangers Beat Rival New York Rangers 7-5

New York Islanders celebrate after 7-5 win against rivals the New York Rangers on Tuesday night

As snow fell from the sky in New York City, the New York Islanders faced off against their cross-town rivals, the New York Rangers, and it was one that saw the Islanders walking away with a 7-5 win.

It was also one that saw Anthony Beauvillier playing a bit part of the New York Islanders success last night against the New York Rangers and bringing an end to a scoring slump after scoring a hat trick on Thursday. Beauvillier, who hails from Quebec, while speaking to the media after the game said,

“I was pretty pumped before the game. It was snowing outside, felt like Christmas. And playing the Rangers is always fun. It feels good to get the win.”

The first sixteen games of the season have been nearly scoreless for Beauvillier, who only had one under his belt. The Islanders, who are off to a good start this season, are sitting in second place of the Metropolitan Division, have won seven of their last ten games.

Beauvillier, adding that,

“It’s always tough mentally,” he said of his struggles. “If you don’t play good and the team’s losing it’s harder, but the team’s been winning, and the locker room is great.”

Also scoring last night for the Islanders was Leo Komarov, who scored one goal and earned an assist. Cal Clutterbuck, Anders Lee and Brock Nelson each scored to help lead the Islanders to their twelfth win in the last thirteen meetings between the two teams. Earning assists last night was Valteri Filppula and Nick Leddy.
