Andlauer More Likely To Buy Senators Than Ryan Reynolds

Michael Andlauer and Ryan Reynolds interested in buying the Ottawa Senators

Summary

  • Billionaire Michael Andlauer emerges as frontrunner to buy Ottawa Senators
  • Ryan Reynolds still very keen on acquiring Ottawa Senators but needs financial backers
  • NHL and Ottawa Senators could benefit from the spotlight Reynolds brings

When the Ottawa Senators announced that they were looking for a buyer, NHL analysts expected a lot of interest from the market. During the last week, the Canadian-American star Ryan Reynolds used his media ties to make it clear that he was very interested in acquiring the Senators.

Senators fans also appear eager for Reynolds to become the new owner as he received a standing ovation when the camera focused on him during their last live hockey game.

Billionaire Michael Andlauer Frontrunner

While Senators fans are keen on seeing Reynolds as the new owner, it might not happen as reports suggest that Billionaire Michael Andlauer is now the frontrunner to acquire the Senators. Michael Andlauer is the owner of the Hamilton Bulldogs franchise and the founder of ATS Andlauer Transportation Services which is now known as ATS Healthcare.

Andlauer has the financial clout and a solid market reputation that should give him the nod if he decides to move forward with acquiring the Ottawa Senators. At the moment, there does not seem to be any other serious contender in the race other than Ryan Reynolds.

Reynolds Needs Financial Backers To Make A Bid

Ryan Reynolds is a passionate NHL fan but when rumours surfaced that he was keen on buying the Senators – everyone thought it was just rumours! However, he appeared on the Tonight Show and confirmed his interest in owning the Senators but said his pockets were not deep enough to make a big.

The Deadpool star is reported to have a net worth of $150 million and openly admitted that he would need a billionaire to back him to make a bid for the Senators. Reynolds does have a lot of connections and we are not sure as of now if he is working with someone behind the scenes to help him acquire the Senators.

The NHL and the Ottawa Senators will benefit more if a Hollywood celebrity like Reynolds acquires the franchise rather than a billionaire like Michael Andlauer. While Andlauer does bring huge financial resources to the table, Reynolds brings the media spotlight which will boost the brand of the Senators and the NHL as he has done with Wrexham AFC in the UK.
