De Grasse’s Coach Accuses Bolt Of 'Booting' The Competition

Usain Bolt, the fastest man on the plant is in the final phase of his career and fans from around the world are keeping a close watch on his remaining appearances. He is expected to compete twice – once at the Diamond League in Monaco during this weekend and the final time at the World Championships in London, England.

Canadian fans were looking forward to seeing Bolt complete against the 22 year old Canadian Andre De Grasse who many believe will be the man who fills Bolt’s shoes once he retires.

However De Grasse’s coach has confirmed that De Grasse will not be completing with Bolt in the 100m race even though they had registered for the same.

The Canadian sprinter showed the world how good he was during the 2016 Rio Olympics when he finished second to Bolt in the 200m sprint and third in the 100m sprint. De Grasse expressed his desire to compete against Bolt before he retires and said that it would mean everything to him as he has put in a lot of hard work to see if he can become the fastest man in the world.

That’s not going to be happening at the Monaco races as De Grasse has been dropped. His coach has accused Bolt of clearing the competition because he knows that De Grasse is his biggest threat and he does not want to finish his career in second place.

The managing partner of Montreal-based Sprint Management Kris Mychasiw explained that special privileges are extended to the top sprinters especially in the 100m sprint. Bolt could have been given the privilege of being able to control the field and that means he gets to determine who he competes with.

In a statement, Mychasiw said

No one wants to see Bolt lose this year and I think Andre, right now, is a major threat to that in Monaco. Prior to the Monaco event. Bolt might have had a clause in his contract that said he doesn't have to race anyone ranked in the top five or top 10 in the world, and that the field would need to be approved by himself and/or his management company.

The eight time Olympic medalist did recognize De Grasse’s performance in Rio and complimented him saying that he runs just like him (Bolt) and believes that he (De Grasse) could end up becoming the fastest man on the planet once he retires.
