Zach Edey Open To Get Picked In NBA Draft

Zach Edey who is a Toronto native has now confirmed that he is interested to play in the NBA and will be open to selection in the upcoming NBA draft which takes place in May. Edey who plays for the Purdue Boilermakers showed basketball fans that even with his huge frame, he has legitimate skills that makes him one of the most exciting young prospects in Canada.

During his last season with the Boilermakers, Edey ended up averaging just over 22 points per game, had an average of 73.4 percent on his free throws and managed 12.9 rebounds. He made one appearance for Purdue during the NCAA Tournament when they took on Fairleigh Dickinson.

Edey scored 21 points in that game and managed 15 rebounds but it wasn’t enough for Purdue to get through. Edey was disappointed after that loss as Purdue wasn’t expected to get eliminated in the opening round with the talent they had.

Edey created history in the NCAA after becoming the first player to finish the season with over 750 points, 50 assists, 70 blocks and 400 rebounds. He ranked in the national top 25 players across all four categories and went on to win the National Player of the Year award and the Big Ten player of the year.

Will An NBA Franchise Go For Edey?

There was a time in the NBA when franchises would go all out to get a player of Edey’s height and frame. Those times have gone as NBA franchises these days are not very keen on bringing in ‘jumbo’ players and even if they don’t, they don’t really get a lot of game time.

Edey says that if he does not get picked in the NBA draft, he is happy to return to Purdue University and continue his studies.
