Canada’s women’s hockey team will be thrilled with themselves after putting in their best performance of the tournament in the final match against the United States.

Canada came together as a team and defeated their arch-rivals by 2-1 to clinch the gold medal at the Women’s Hockey World Championships.

Team Canada Put In Another Brilliant Performance  

Team Canada played brilliant in their semi-final against Switzerland and registered an 8-1 impressive victory over the Swiss. Defending champs Canada brought that momentum into the finals but their opponents, the United States also rose to the occasion and made it tough for them right from the start.

Canada found it hard to break through the defense of the United States but Brianne Jenner stunned the Americans when she scored back to back to goals within the space of a couple of minutes to give Canada the lead. The United States fought back hard, especially in the third quarter when they launched a very strong offensive move and outshot the Canadians 12-6 during this period. 

The United States did well for themselves but goalie Ann-Renée Desbiens put in a brilliant performance and pulled off 20 saves. The United States did manage to sneak one in but they were unable to get the equalizer as Ann-Renée Desbiens wasn’t about to let another one get past her.

Canada’s Women’s Hockey Team Continues To Shine 

Canada’s women’s hockey team have played incredibly well over the last 12 months. They won the 2021 World Championships, gold at the Winter Olympics and now the 2022 World Championships. 

The United States has been their biggest competition and while the games get tougher to win, the Canada’s women’s hockey team have managed to dig deep when it matters and come up with a win!

Brianne Jenner admitted that it was a tough game for them at the finals but they knew they had the confidence to find a way to win when things were tough. Forward Sarah Nurse said it was a special feeling to win three gold medals within the span of 12 months and said it gave them confidence to know that they were the best team in the world!
