Summary:

  • Amid Toronto Blue Jays’s trying first, Guerrero Jr. Guerrero said he would “love to be in Toronto”.
  • Plans on bringing a charge in the second half during the all-star break.
  • The player’s potential free agency is emerging at the end of 2025, dragging him into a deadline tumult.

With the baseball all-star break underway, Toronto Blue Jays’ Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is taking the opportunity to enjoy a breather from the rather trying first half for his team.

However, the first baseman is one of the players taking part in the Midsummer Classic, so it’s not a full break for him.

At the start of the week, American League manager Bruce Bochy officially announced the batting lineup for the Midsummer Classic at Globe Life Field.

Guerrero will be batting seventh in a lineup full of the best hitters in baseball.

The spot is not one that Guerrero is familiar with but he will have to give his all in Tuesday’s MLB All-Star Game played in Texas.

In the meantime, the player plans on regrouping and working on bringing in some improvements.

Guerrero Wants to “Make a Charge in the Second Half”

Using his interpreter Hector Lebron, the player called the first half a “mental break“, adding that, despite the hardships, he was “very proud” for making the all-star game once again.

I’m going to take it like a break, regroup, and try to make a charge in the second half.

And, at 44-52, his team is going to need to make the most out of the two and a half months left until the season’s final to prevent a contention-less stretch drive.

Guerrero’s rookie season started in 2019. During three of the four years that have passed since, he supported the club, earning wild-card spots.

He also helped the Blue Jays finish an agonizing game short in 2021. “That’s the team that we have. That’s our team that we made”, he said, adding that he intends to go on the court and give his 100%, and “whatever happens after that, I can’t control it”.

“I’d Love to Be in Toronto. My Family Loves Toronto.”

Vladimir Guerrero Jr’s potential free agency, which is looming toward the end of next year, is also dragging him into a deadline tumult.

However, at the moment, his team does not have any plans to deal him or Bo Bichette. The player has taken many opportunities to express his desire to stay in Toronto in the long run.

Last spring negotiations were to no avail, and no serious talks have meaningfully picked up since then.

Questioned about his arguments about why he wishes to remain in Toronto, the 25-year-old explained his family and children all love Toronto.

But at the end of the day, it’s a business. We all need to understand that. So whatever happens, happens. But, definitely, I would like to stay there.
