Three Canadians Advance to PGA Tour 2026 FedEx Cup Playoffs

Three Canadian golfers have secured their spots in the opening round of the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup playoffs at the end of the Wyndham Championship on Sunday, August 9.

Sudarshan Yellamaraju, Corey Conners and Nick Taylor finished inside the top 70 of the season-long FedEx Cup standings, earning places in the FedEx St. Jude Championship, which begins Thursday, August 13, in Memphis.

Surprise from the Tour Rookie 

Yellamaraju, a rookie of the Tour, was the highest-ranked Canadian heading into the playoffs, finishing 57th in the standings. Conners followed on the 59th position, while Taylor secured the 63rd ranking.

The trio now will now face an even tougher challenge to keep their playoff runs alive. Only the top 50 players after the FedEx St. Jude Championship will be able to advance to the BMW Championship in St. Louis the following week. 

Then, the field will once again be reduced to only 30 players for the Tour Championship in Atlanta.

Conners and Taylor will be looking to return to Atlanta for a second consecutive season.

Of the three Canadians who qualified, only Taylor played in the Wyndham Championship. He finished tied for 72nd at 2 under, ending the week 20 strokes behind Michael Brennan, who claimed his first PGA Tour victory.

The Wyndham result had little impact on Taylor’s playoff qualification, however, as his position in the season-long standings was already strong enough to secure a place in Memphis.

Taylor Pendrith was the next-highest Canadian in the FedEx Cup standings, finishing 89th after a tie for 38th at the Wyndham. That result was not enough to earn him a place in the 70-player playoff field.

AJ Ewart finished the regular season 105th after missing the Wyndham cut, while Mackenzie Hughes ended 118th despite tying for 29th at the tournament.

For Yellamaraju, Conners and Taylor, the focus now shifts to Memphis, where the first playoff event will determine who will remain in contention for the final stages of the FedEx Cup.
