Aaron Rodgers Returns to the Green Bay Packers

Aaron Rodgers has finally been “medically cleared” to make a much-needed return to the NFL after missing a total of 7 games due to a broken right collarbone.

This was announced on Tuesday night via Instagram by the Green Bay Packers quarterback. The Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers are currently tied for a wild card berth, with both teams on 7-6.

Aaron Rodgers was injured during a devastating loss to the Minnesota Vikings on October 15 and underwent surgery on October 19. Rodgers managed to return to practice in early December and was deemed eligible to re-join the roster on Friday afternoon, meaning the two-time MVP can suit up for the game on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.

Tuesday night Rodgers wrote on his Instagram page stating:

The Green Bay Packers will be required to win their final three matchups if they want to be in the playoffs for the 2017 NFL season. On Monday morning, Rodgers went for a scan on his right collarbone. By Monday afternoon, while the team was in the process of game-planning for their match against the Carolina Panthers, coach Mike McCarthy couldn’t confirm whether Aaron Rodgers or replacement Brett Hundley would be his starting quarterback.

Mike McCarthy stated.

Quite frankly, it would be best for Rodgers to know as soon as possible. Aaron is the one that needs to be ready, and in his mind, he is ready to go after watching him practice, as well as the conversations I’ve had with him. However, this is ultimately a medical conclusion and Dr Pat McKenzie is touching base with several medical experts as they evaluate the information.

These medical meetings went on until Tuesday afternoon before a conclusion was finally reached.

The Green Bay Packers were 4-2 in the first six games with Rodgers as quarterback. This includes the game against the Minnesota Vikings where Rodgers was injured during the second possession. The three games prior to the Minnesota game, Rodgers threw 10 touchdown passes, and only had 1 interception. The Green Bay Packers managed to go 3-4 with Brett Hundley’s 7 starts, which included back-to-back victories against Cleveland and Tampa Bay, keeping their hopes alive for the playoffs.

Aaron Rodgers will be fresh and well rested, which is something that most players won’t be able to say come December. Rodgers might be the perfect weapon to ensure the Packers make it to the playoffs this year, and this is sure to be met with the approval of American Football fans as the season progresses.
