Kimi Raikkonen Files Complaint with Montreal Police

Kimi Raikkonen files complaint with Montreal Police over alleged harassment and extortion

F1 driver, Kimi Raikkonen has chosen to file a complaint in relation to a woman who has made claims he touched her breast in 2016 during the Montreal Grand Prix while at a bar.

The complaint alleges harassment and extortion against the woman who posted comments in a blog. While the women didn’t identify Raikkonen, the post detailed the allegations being made against the popular driver.

The post stated that the women was employed at the bar as a waitress and accuses Kimi Raikkonen of touching her breast. It also mentioned that one of those in attendance at the bar with Raikkonen touched her genitals while she was attempting to have them pay their bar tab.

A representative of the legal team for Formula 1 told The Canadian Press that the allegations have been denied by Kimi Raikkonen and that he does not know this woman nor did he touch her breast. However, a lawyer representing the women states that their client is devastated, shocked and feels side-swiped by Raikkonen’s complaint with police.

Jamie Benizri from the law firm, Legal Logik, stated,

“Our position is pretty simple. Faced with allegations of this nature, we’re obviously shocked, disturbed that this would be the response.”

Benizri refused when questioned, to discuss the age of the women, or the monies being sought. However, the legal team for Kimi Raikkonen said the amount is extremely high. When asked about the blog posts that discuss the allegations against Raikkonen Benizri also refused to comment. Benizri further commented that his firm was looking for the opportunity to discuss the allegations adding,

“What we were looking for was an opportunity to sit down, what we were looking for was an opportunity to come to terms with what had happened to my client. Unfortunately, that was completely misconstrued and I think they jumped the gun to defend themselves or potentially thwart an imminent action.”

Benizri has stated that his client intends to fully co-operate with Montreal Police investigators and will submit a statement based on her recollection of events. There have been no motions filed in court and legal action has not been ruled out.

The representative for Raikkonen said demands were received in April of this year and again this month. They added the demands were aggressive and threatened to go public. As a result, a complaint was filed with Montreal Police on Monday of this week by a Montreal Law firm that is representing Kimi Raikkonen.

The Montreal Grand Prix is set to take place this weekend, and Raikkonen, age 38, will be driving for Ferrari as expected. The allegations are unproven and are certain to put a damper on the race for the respected driver and fans. It is unknown whether those in attendance will relinguish thier support for the Finnish driver, but Formula 1 betting sites continue to provide good odds for his performance this weekend.
