Alexander Radulov, Montreal CanadiensRussian superstar Alexander Radulov is a special player and represented the Montreal Canadiens very well, winning the hearts of fans and with his performances proved that he was an integral part of the side.

However Radulov surprised Canadian fans when he suddenly decided to call it quits and sign with the Dallas Stars.

Radulov spent four years in Russia’s KHL before signing up with the Canadiens. He played 76 regular season games and scored 18 goals and 54 points. He also played a significant role in the 6 playoff games scoring 7 points and making his presence felt in more ways than one.

Since his departure, the Canadiens have missed him and have struggled to be a force this season.

The Dallas Stars gained what the Canadiens lost as Radulov has been in impressive form this season scoring 7 goals and 19 points in the first 20 games of the season. There were a lot of speculation and rumours as to why Radulov left the Canadiens, and Radulov finally decided to open up and share exactly what went through his mind when he made the decision.

Radulov admits that the Canadiens did make multiple contract offers to him but he wasn’t fully convinced with the offer and held out. He did not sign the contract and when the window for free agency opened, he received an offer from the Dallas Stars that was a lot more appealing. He also points out that it wasn’t just the money that attracted him but also the fact that Stars captain Jamie Benn along with senior players Jason Spezza and Tyler Seguin who approached him and welcomed him to be a part of the Stars.

Alexander Radulov would end up signing a $31.25 million contract with the Dallas Stars in July 2017 and was immediately welcomed into the team’s leadership group. Radulov admits that when the Canadiens realized that he was really serious in leaving, they decided match the offer that the Stars had made him but by then it was too late as he was already committed.

The Russian star says that he left on good terms and always remains grateful for what the franchise did for him. He said that he continues to keep a close watch on the Canadiens and is confident that they will soon be able to turn their season around.
