In 2015 it reached its 60th anniversary and had a record of 27 countries competing in the final.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year\u2019s event took place in the Ukraine as they have claimed the title last year in Stockholm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each year is also accompanied by a theme and the theme for 2017 was \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/eurovision.tv\/story\/ukraine-is-ready-to-celebrate-diversity-in-2017\">Celebrate Diversity<\/a>\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This was, in fact, a memorable year for the participants of the UK, Austria and Denmark, which all started in 1957 and celebrated their 60th year of participation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"eurovision-betting\">Eurovision Betting<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In accordance with the statistics for 2017, there were participants from 42 countries. However, there were a few withdrawals, which resulted in a change in the odds. The betting options included favourites for the two semi-final rounds, which took place early in May 2017, together with the bets on the results of the top three as well as the 10. Italy was in the lead with 11\/8, Portugal in second place with 2\/1 and Bulgaria in third place with 4\/1. This was indeed a good alternative and was incorporated in the next event.<\/p>\n<p>In 2013 an app was made available to use for voting instead of the televoting and SMS that was the current process. Then in 2016, it was changed to a positional voting system. Each country accorded votes for positions 12, 10 and then 8-1. This was for their favourite songs.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n<h3 id=\"final-countdown\">Final Countdown<\/h3>\n<p>During the night of the Grand Finale, the numbers of viewers are much higher than any of the other rounds and they are almost guaranteed of every contender\u2019s best performance. On the evening of the finals, the betting odds will be finalised.
