She had already reset the bar in the <em>200m individual medley<\/em> on Monday and the <em>400m freestyle<\/em> on Saturday.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Summer McIntosh breaks own world record in 400m IM at Canadian swimming trials | #CBCSports\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/IMpq_B4d24M?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>However, despite rewriting the record books repeatedly, the teen remains laser-focused on racing, not the records.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>During the meet I don\u2019t really like to think about it,. I\u2019ll celebrate and then kind of process it and focus on the next race. I know I can go faster.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>And that mindset seems to be paying off. Over the course of the week, McIntosh also smashed two of her own Canadian records.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She crushed the <em>800m freestyle<\/em> in <strong>8:05.0,<\/strong> nearly five seconds faster than her previous best, and lowered her national mark in the<em> 200m butterfly<\/em>, an event in which she already holds the world record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>I think it\u2019s more fun chasing records that you haven\u2019t broken yet. It\u2019s immensely easier to break your own, because you kind of have to look at it as just going your personal best time.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>McIntosh, a two-time Olympian, had a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.betting.ca\/news\/summer-mcintosh-and-christia-deguchi-grab-team-canadas-first-gold-medals-on-monday\">breakout summer in Paris last year<\/a>, winning three gold medals and a silver, making her the <strong>first Canadian to ever win three golds at a single Olympic Games<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"ekk-tierney-bennet-and-maxwell-also-performed-well\">Ekk, Tierney, Bennet, and Maxwell Also Performed Well<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>She wasn\u2019t the only standout on Wednesday.
