I&#8217;m really excited for 200 fly tomorrow and 400 IM. &#8230; There&#8217;s definitely a lot more I can achieve here. Just kind of celebrating tonight but then really trying to calm myself down and get ready for tomorrow.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>McIntosh\u2019s form this week has been nothing short of electric.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just three days earlier, <strong>she smashed the world record in the <em>400m freestyle<\/em><\/strong>, and not long after, she clocked the <strong>third-fastest time ever in the <em>800m freestyle<\/em><\/strong>, setting a new Canadian record in the process and nearly catching <a href=\"https:\/\/www.olympics.com\/en\/news\/tyr-pro-series-fort-lauderdale-katie-ledecky-sets-new-world-record-800m-freestyle-nine-years-rio-2016\">American legend Katie Ledecky\u2019s world-best time<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Summer McIntosh demolishes world record in 400m freestyle at Canadian swimming trials | #CBCSports\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/dptNMofhiNs?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"6-long-and-short-course-world-records-for-mcintosh\">6 Long- and Short-Course World Records for McIntosh<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>With this latest triumph, McIntosh now holds six world records: three in long-course meters, the 200 IM, 400 IM, and 400 freestyle, and three in short-course: the 200 fly, 400 IM, and 400 free.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Few swimmers in history have ever dominated across such a wide range of disciplines and distances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking to <strong>Swimming Canada<\/strong> she said,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>It\u2019s been one of those records that\u2019s always been in the back of my mind since trials two years ago. I\u2019ve been knocking on the door on this one. I\u2019ve just tried to chip away, chip away at it. To finally do it, it\u2019s kind of like \u2018Wow, I\u2019ve finally got that done.\u2019<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>After her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.betting.ca\/news\/summer-mcintosh-and-christia-deguchi-grab-team-canadas-first-gold-medals-on-monday\">breakout performance at the Paris Olympics<\/a> last summer, where she earned three golds and a silver, McIntosh isn\u2019t letting up.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her eyes are already on Los Angeles in 2028, where she hopes to chase five individual medals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But first, she\u2019s focused on finishing strong this week in Victoria, where trials also double as a qualifier for the World Championships in Singapore, kicking off July 26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And based on her current form, the best may still be ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Summary: Summer McIntosh is putting Canadian swimming on the map, and doing it with remarkable ease.
