The four players who currently play in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.betting.ca\/hockey\/nhl\">National Hockey League<\/a> (NHL) are <strong>Dillon Dube, Cal Foote, Carter Hart and Michael McLeod<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 5<sup>th <\/sup>player who was part of the accused group of 5 players to have carried out the sexual assault is <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.betting.ca\/news\/nicolas-beaudin-let-go-by-montreal-canadiens-whilst-alex-formenton-surrenders-to-police\">Alex Formenton<\/a><\/strong> who no longer plays in the NHL but in Switzerland. He surrendered to the police on Jan 28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"four-players-will-be-photographed-and-fingerprinted\"><strong>Four Players Will Be Photographed and Fingerprinted&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>These four players have already been given a leave of absence from their respective NHL franchises and will surrender to the London, Ontario police. McLeod and Foote play for the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NJDevils\">New Jersey Devils<\/a> where McLeod is on a $1.4 million contract that was signed in July 2023 and Foote signed a contract in August 2023 for $800,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"5 former World Junior hockey players named in sex assault case\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/4GpCvql1nc8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Dube plays for the Calgary Flames and is in the final year of his 3 year contract that is valued at $2.3 million while Hart who plays for the Philadelphia Flyers is also in the final year of a 3 year contract estimated to be around $11.9 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These <strong>5 players are alleged to have sexually assaulted a woman who goes by the initials of E.M<\/strong>. She has alleged that back on June 19, 2018 she agreed to have sex with one of these individuals but he ended up inviting the other 4 of them who had sex with her without consent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"press-conference-on-feb-5\"><strong>Press Conference On Feb 5<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>She filed a complaint with the London, Ontario police who closed the case in Feb 2019 citing insufficient evidence and no charges were filed. Hockey Canada, 8 hockey players and the Canadian Hockey League were then him with a civil lawsuit by E.M which was quietly settled for $3.5 million in mid 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When news broke of the Hockey Canada cover-up, there was a nation wide backlash and the case was reopened.
