The $1.56 million is a flat payment that FIFA will give all participating countries that did not make it past the group stage as part of FIFA\u2019s efforts to help football develop in their respective countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Canada came into the 2023 Women\u2019s World Cup with a lot of expectations as the 2020 Olympic Champions were determined to prove their win at the Olympics was not a fluke and they could replicate their success, especially as they were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.betting.ca\/news\/will-canadas-fifa-wwc-2023-performance-pave-the-way-for-a-pro-league\">hoping more exposure would help their Pro League cause<\/a>. The team that finishes in 4<sup>th<\/sup> place will get $2.455 million, the 3<sup>rd<\/sup> place finisher will receive $2.61 million. The runner-up for the 2023 Women\u2019s World Cup will take $3.015 million while the winner will receive $4.29 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Canada Soccer has also benefitted from a $960,000 payment from FIFA that was given as preparation money ahead of the World Cup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"canada-soccer-will-determine-player-payouts\"><strong>Canada Soccer Will Determine Player Payouts<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It is important to note that FIFA will make <strong>these payments to the member associations and not directly to the players<\/strong>. FIFA does have a recommended payment structure in place suggesting that countries that were eliminated during the group stage <strong>should give their players $30,000<\/strong> while the country that wins the 2023 Women\u2019s World Cup should pay their players $270,000 each.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, it will be up to each member federation to make the final decision as to what they think each player should get. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.betting.ca\/news\/canadas-womens-soccer-team-and-canada-soccer-reach-interim-funding-agreement\">Canada Soccer has an interim payment contract<\/a> in place for 2023 with the women\u2019s team and has so far not disclosed what are the terms and conditions of the agreement.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Summary Canada suffered a humiliating 4-0 loss to Australia at the 2023 FIFA Women\u2019s World Cup on 31 July.
