The Canadian team is currently in Vienna, preparing for the World Cup but there are a few lingering financial concerns that the players would like resolved at the earliest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"canada-soccer-yet-to-confirm-on-financial-payout\">Canada Soccer Yet To Confirm On Financial Payout<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once the Canadian team qualified for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, they were guaranteed $10 million in prize money as the qualifying fee. The Canadian men\u2019s team <strong>want Canada Soccer to split 80 percent of the prize money equally between them and the women\u2019s team<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This proposed split in the qualifying fee was brought to Canada Soccer by the <strong>Canadian Men\u2019s National Soccer Team Players Association (CMNSTPA) <\/strong>who was officially appointed as the bargaining agent for the men\u2019s team. <a href=\"https:\/\/canadiansoccerplayers.com\">Canadian Soccer Players Association<\/a> which represents the women\u2019s team has so far stayed silent on the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Canada Soccer&#039;s problems aren&#039;t solved yet | The Breakdown\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/r8eIoSYqshA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are a number of internal issues that need to be sort out before Canada Soccer reaches an agreement on the proposed payout terms. Legal counsel for Canada Soccer, <strong>Sean Bawden <\/strong>is reported to have reminded CMNSTPA that the <strong>men\u2019s national team currently owes Canada Soccer $3.5 million in lost ticket revenue<\/strong> after they decided to play a game against Panama on June 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The men\u2019s team did not play against Panama because they had placed a demand on June 4 for Canada Soccer to give them an after tax payment of $4 million for qualifying for the World Cup which Canada Soccer has not agreed to till now. Canada Soccer is highly unlikely to go after the players to collect the $3.5 million but it is being used as a bargaining chip in the proposed agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"canada-have-a-tough-challenge-in-group-f\">Canada Have A Tough Challenge In Group F<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Canada is placed in <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2022_FIFA_World_Cup_Group_F\">Group F for the 2022 FIFA World Cup<\/a> which is a really tough group. Canada are alongside <strong>Croatia, Belgium and Morocco<\/strong>.
