Winnipeg Jets celebrate scoring in game 1 against Nashville Predators<\/p><\/div>\n

When Game 1 of the Nashville Predators and Winnipeg Jets was over, one thing was certain, the Jets stuck to their game plan, and by the look on Paul Maurice\u2019s face, the game stats said Game 1 should not have had the outcome it did.<\/p>\n

The Predators were the top team in the NHL during the regular season and outskated and shot the Winnipeg Jets<\/a> through all three periods. Nashville<\/a> had 87 attempts compared to the Jets 39, but the Jets stuck to their plan, and the result was a 4-1 win, just as they did in round one against the Minnesota Wild<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Speaking about Game 1, Paul Maurice said,<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t feel as overwhelmed as the stats tell me I should. I\u2019m usually pretty honest about that, I\u2019m not trying to protect the group. It\u2019s their building, they had the jump early. They put an awful lot of pucks to the net from all over the ice. I\u2019m not worried about those stats. There certainly weren\u2019t a lot of odd-man rushes or things like that of a real high-risk nature.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The good thing for the Jets is they kept their composure, and much of how the game played out was part of the plan. Connor Hellebuyck<\/a> was at his best last night and held off the hard-driving Predators in the Western Conference semi-finals.<\/p>\n
