\"JerryInside sources in the NFL shared information to the Associated Press<\/a> on November 8 and stated that Jerry Jones<\/a>, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys<\/strong> is not happy over the fact that the NFL wants to extend Commissioner Roger Goodell\u2019s contract and has threatened to hit the league with a lawsuit should it proceed with a contract extension. The team owner and executive who leaked this news wanted to remain anonymous because nothing official has been released at the moment but similar rumours has also been reported by the New York Times<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Back in May, the 32 owners of NFL teams voted in favour of extending Goodell\u2019s contract and making changes to his compensation structure but it looks like Jones who is one of the most powerful owners in the NFL has had a change of heart and it looks like the main reason for this is the Commissioner\u2019s decision to suspend Ezekiel Elliot\u2019s for six games<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Elliot who plays for the Cowboys was arrested on domestic violence charges, which he denied under oath. Prosecutors in the end decided not to pursue the charges due to conflicting evidence but the NFL did not turn a blind eye to it and conducted an investigation of their own which lasted for close to 12 months. The Commissioner then decided to suspend Elliot and the decision did not go down well with the Cowboys.<\/p>\n
