His standout campaign in 2023-24 saw him record 92 points and win the Norris Trophy as the league&#8217;s best defenceman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before Sunday&#8217;s game, Hughes said he was grateful for his time in Vancouver and prepared for the possibility of being booed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whether I&#8217;m booed or whatnot, it won&#8217;t change how I feel about that place and how grateful I am for the experiences I had there<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also reflected positively on beginning his career in a Canadian market, describing the experience as special.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"an-extension-could-soon-follow\">An Extension Could Soon Follow<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eliteprospects.com\/player\/201671\/quinn-hughes\">Quinn Hughes<\/a> has yet to sign a contract extension with Minnesota<\/strong>, but suggested that developments could come soon. He said he was enjoying his time with the Wild and believed the team had the potential to compete for a championship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The defenceman&#8217;s <strong>current contract carries a salary cap hit of $7.85 million<\/strong>.
