Canadian hockey fans are going to spend their Christmas holidays glued to their television sets as the World Junior Hockey Championship is set to take place just after Christmas. Canadian fans will be able to bet and watch the 2023 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship on TSN. 

Hockey Canada has released the full schedule for the tournament which will feature the best under-20 hockey players in the world.

World Junior Hockey Championship – Schedule

The World Junior Hockey Championship will run from Dec 26, 2022 and end on Jan 5, 2023. Canada are the defending champions and will go into this hockey tournament as heavy betting favorites as they have some of the best young hockey players in the world who will be looking to shine during the World Juniors. The tournament will played out in two locations – Moncton and Halifax.

Hockey Canada has confirmed that they will release the pre-tournament schedule in the next few weeks and will schedule games in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Hockey Canada is set to host a pre-selection camp in Moncton during December and announce the shortlist to the World Junior’s by mid-December.

Team Canada will play their opening match on Boxing Day (Dec 26) against Czechia and this should be a tough opening game for both sides. Canada will also have another big challenge on their hands on New Year’s Eve when they play Sweden in Halifax.

Canada is also set to play exhibition games in mid-December in Moncton against U Sports All-Star team.

World Junior Hockey Championship – Teams

A total of 10 teams will take part in the World Junior Hockey Championship and they are split into two groups.

Group A consists of Germany, Sweden, Austria, Czechia and Canada while Group B consists of Latvia, Switzerland, Finland, United States and Slovakia. Group A are set to play their matches at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax while Group B will play their games at the Avenir Centre in Moncton.
